Steve Amirault is considered to be one of the most accomplished artists in Canada.
The Nova Scotia-born musician comes to Toronto after many years in Montreal and also three years on the New York City jazz scene early in his career.

Steve performs regularly as a leader and sideman at Toronto’s top jazz venues: The Jazz Bistro, The Rex Jazz and Blues Bar, the Homesmith Jazz Bar, as well as clubs and festivals across the country. Some of his recent performances have been with stalwart Canadian musicians: such as, Kelly Jefferson, Reg Schwager, Terry Clarke, Barry Elms, Steve Wallace, Neil Swainson and Alison Young.

This award-winning musician has released six recordings. His most recent, “Hold On, Let Go,” finds the artist delving into timeless songs from the American popular songbook, including: “All Of Me,” “Moon River,” “Embraceable You,” “Lullaby of Birdland,” as well as two original pieces “Just Believe” and “Japanese Lullaby.”

Amirault’s honours and prizes include: laureate of the Montreal International Jazz Festival Competition; Prix Opus (Album of the Year for “Breath”); two Juno Awards for collaborations with François Carrier on “Compassion” and Christine Jensen on “Treelines”; three-time National Jazz Awards Canada nominee (Best Keyboardist, Best Acoustic Group, and Best Album); ADISQ Nomination for Best Jazz Album for “Breath” and winner of a Felix Award (ADISQ) for his contribution to “Hommage à Charlie Parker”, an album by Rémi Bolduc.

Steve has also shared the stage with Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman (Miles Davis) Joe Chambers (Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson) Mike Clark (Herbie Hancock) and recorded with Sheila Jordan and Eddie Gomez (Bill Evans, Chick Corea).
