With over 20 years of experience, Tracey Gallant is a versatile singer well versed in a variety of styles, and she has graced many a stage throughout Canada, the US, the Caribbean, and overseas. It was early on in her musical journey that Tracey discovered the incredible Nancy Wilson. Tracey was immediately taken by this powerhouse singer, and was of course inspired to take on board and sing some of Nancy’s amazing repertoire herself. And now, after years of inspiration, and with the recent passing of Nancy in December 2018, it is a fitting time for Tracey to honour one of her all time favourite singers, and she is thrilled to present ‘A Tribute to Nancy Wilson’ at Toronto’s beautiful Jazz Bistro.

Tracey credits her good friend and piano player, Alan Cohen, with first introducing her to Nancy Wilson. Nancy, who defied categorization and labels, referred to herself as a ‘song stylist’, and indeed she was. She covered Jazz, Pop, RnB, Broadway, and even country. Tonight this retrospective to the illustrious career of Nancy Wilson will offer selections representing her diversity. Just some of the songs you can expect to hear will include material from her classic recordings with Cannonball Adderley, her crowd-pleasing classic Guess Who I Saw Today, (You Don’t Know) How Glad I am, (her first Grammy Award winner – 1965), the dramatic and theatrical “The Greatest Performance of My Life”, and songs Nancy sang in honour of some of her greatest inspirations, like Little Jimmy Scott and the song, “When Did You Leave Heaven”.

Tracey is proud to be sharing the stage with these incredible virtuosos:

Alan Cohen – Piano
Ted Quinlan – Guitar
Pat Collins – Bass
Steve Heathcote – Drums
